How Far We've Come

To think that only 46 years ago this would have been prohibited:

We've come a long way indeed.  We are so pleased that these cousins can use the same water source, as equals under the hot sun.

Fun At the Fair!

We love "Fair Time" in the Mock Household and we were very excited to take Eden to her first Elkhart County 4-H Fair last month.  It was very special to me since I also spent several years growing up in Elkhart County and attended many fairs.  I can vividly remember going with Mom and Dad to the Grandstand shows and seeing such popular acts as:

Box Car Willie:

The Judds:

John Schneider (AKA Bo Duke who even pecked Mom on the cheek when we got his autograph!):

and Tracy Byrd:

I even had the priviledge of introducing my lovely wife and great friends to the Fair entertainment several years ago when we saw a wonderful concert by none other than the Gambler himself!

Kenny Rogers (before the surgery):

Alas, we didn't take in any Grandstand shows this year but we had lots of fun nonetheless.  Not only was it Eden's first Fair but also a first Fair for our wonderful friends from the Centennial State (that's Colorado for those of you that slept during Social Studies) Amily & Earon (not their real names for privacy purposes) and their sons.

So without further ado, some pics from the wonderful and wholesome evening!

Getting up high so she can see all of the beautiful people and exciting goings on!

Getting up close and personal with a pony!

Enjoying the day with one of her bestest friends in the whole world:

The only downside of our wonderful day at the Fair was the fact that it took me 2 hours and 32 minutes to get there from Wakarusa.  Granted, 2 hours and 4 mins of that was waiting in traffic as it was the free day but the rest of the gang walked the last 1.7 miles and got in in no time!  I'd do it all over again because I know the memories of the Fair are priceless.  And if the memories weren't enough, there's always.........................

Gotta love the Deep Fried Twinkies!!!!!

Some of the Things I've Been Up To

Even though the past 6 weeks have been pretty busy, here are a few of my latest adventures...

I was able to attend my first Akron 4th of July Parade.  Here I am taking it all in with color commentary provided by Grandpa:

I've gotten to be a "biggie girl" and am now allowed to ride as one when we go shopping:

Some friends of Mommy and Daddy from church opened up their house to me over the past three weeks and I was able to stay there during the day.  I got to make some new friends and even took my first ride on a 4 wheeler (Daddy wasn't too happy about me going on a ride with a boy though...)

I went to my cousin's birthday party and helped them get some sweet treats from the Ice Cream Man:

The last thing I'll share with you I'm not too sure about, (as you can see by the look on my face!).  They put me in the swing at Grandma and Grandpa's and I haven't decided yet if I like it or not:

Thanks for being patient these past few weeks (months!) as the posting has been non existent.  We're grateful for you and the fact that you are interested in what's going on with us.  Have a good week everyone!

Just Chill....

Sorry for the delay in posting folks.  The Mama and Dada have been a little preoccupied with what they call "the real world" and whatnot.  It seems like a good excuse if you ask me.

Anyway....I'm still here.  Looking cool as ever and enjoying the new digs.  I convinced them to put a pool in for me you see.  So, even though they are all stressed out I am just chilling.....

We will get some more posts up over the next couple of weeks.

At 8 months old....

Once you turn 8 months old, you get to do all sorts of fun new things.  Like......

Eat a "biter biscuit" for the first time:

Play with Sherman first thing in the morning:

Sit all by yourself in a lawn chair:

Crawl under the table:

To Sherm's food and open the lid:

And his dining room table:

And make Mommy drop the camera before I go too far!  I thought this was what you are supposed to do...it's what Sherman does here:

And if you want to make sure I'm old enough to be doing all of
these things, here is my 8 month picture (I would much rather play with this bunny than smile at the camera as mommy takes picture after picture after picture after....):

Another thing that this 8 month old (and the old folks pictured with me) gets to do.....move into our new house!

We will be moving next week!  Mom and Dad are very excited but nervous that I will "get into everything and crack my head!"  They're silly, I'm just 8 months old but very mature for my age.  I'll be fine.  Sherman though, I'm worried about him...he's got no idea what's coming!

What I've Been Up To

Here are some fun pics of the last couple of weeks and the things I've been doing:

Helping Daddy clean up some old paperwork before the move:

Trying butternut squash for the first time (not sure yet if I like them???):

Discovering a new fun toy!:

Chillaxing in the bubble bath Daddy drew for me (I even look spoiled here don't I?):

Modeling my Notre Dame cheerleading outfit:

Working on my tosses with Daddy (I hope to learn more moves from Aunt Lisa):

And much to the surprise of my parental units, sitting up and greeting them in the morning:

I also took my first official "crawl" this weekend.  That hasn't been captured on tape yet though.

Have a great week!

Getting Really Close!

Sorry for the delay in posting the last few weeks.  We made our annual trip to Indy / the 500 and of course regular life hasn't slowed down at all.  We are so excited to see all of the progress on the new house and are hoping to be moving in in 3-4 weeks.  Here are some snapshots to let you see how far it's come.

Landscaping at front of house

The "Red Door" that Eve has always wanted (our builder was a little nervous but finally wrote to say he "really digs it!")

Yard graded but no grass seed yet (silly rain)

Counter tops installed and kitchen almost completed

All of the plumbing is completed (including Eden's sink...we think she likes it)

Installing carpet upstairs

Carpet completed in downstairs great room (can you tell someone is starting "crawling motions"?)

The house from the back (almost makes it look like a mansion from this angle...ha!)

Several things still to be completed including finishing carpet, appliance installation, window coverings, deck, privacy fence, final painting, seeding lawn, inspections, and some odds and ends.  Our wish was to be in the house prior to little E crawling...but if not, that's okay.  We are so looking forward to her having plenty of space to move around in....whether that is crawling, walking, or eventually chasing her big brother all over!
